About the Artist

I’m Dana Savoca Tietze, a multidisciplinary American artist, writer, and cottage gardener presently based in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Drawing inspiration from both the beauty of nature and the complexity of the human experience, I strive to explore the intersection of the two through various expressive mediums in my creative work.

I specialize in colorful abstract and landscape paintings inspired by the magic of nature and the glimmering Gulf Coast. My style is experimental, mixing acrylics, inks, fluid art techniques, blending my own custom mediums and colors, and incorporating natural materials like crystals and shells.

As a jewelry designer, I take particular joy in creating handmade pieces that are inspired by the elemental, including wrapped crystals and reworked vintage and antique pieces. I feel a connection with the materials, whether they are semi-precious stones, wood, metal, or a vintage piece that needs some care. Each element carries an energy that is an honor to nurture and turn into something that will be cherished or even worn as a talisman.

As a writer I feel compelled to explore the topics of evolving consciousness, spirituality, cosmology, philosophy, meditation and mindfulness, through both non-fiction and fiction pieces. I’m also a singer-songwriter, writing and performing alternative indie rock music with the band Dorian Shores.

I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Philosophy from the University of San Diego, in 2008, concentrating on the classics and postmodernism. I also earned a minor in Italian language and literature, and studied both Spanish and French before pivoting my major from Multi-Language Studies to Philosophy after a fateful Intro to Philosophy course second semester sophomore year lit me up like no other subject before had.

In 2014, I pursued my passion for nutrition and earned certification from The Institute of Integrative Nutrition in Holistic Health Coaching. Additionally, I have advanced experience as a Flower Essence practitioner, years of hands-on holistic energy work experience, and a strong passion for naturopathic wellness and research, and though this helps me practically to manage living with endometriosis and poly-autoimmunity, I no longer work one-on-one with clients.

In my free time I’m an avid gardener. Over the past few years I’ve transformed the formerly neglected yard of my current home into a thriving urban cottage garden, focused on Florida-friendly and pollinator supportive plants and butterfly habitats. Previously, along with my husband, Max, I managed an acre of cultivated gardens with over 40 varieties of fruiting trees and shrubs, a large wildlife pond, and two very happy rescued breeder rabbits.

I have three rescued cats and am passionate about animal advocacy and adoption. I’m proud to be Italian-American and from Mamaroneck, NY. Before settling on the Gulf Coast of Florida, I’ve also resided in both San Diego and Brooklyn.
